These days, we have electronic textbooks to read and tablet computers to document our thoughts in class — and now, portable whiteboard viewers. Luidia, a company that designs and sells interactive electronic whiteboard solutions, is leveraging the display, portability and connectivity of Amazon’s Kindle to offer a new “Send to Kindle” feature that shoots whiteboard contents to an Amazon’s e-book reader.

“Students can review class lessons, parents can see what children have studied in class, and businesses can review presentations and brainstorming sessions on their Kindle. This new feature is not only convenient, it also is a paperless, environmentally friendly alternative to taking conventional notes.”

Amplifyd from www.businessweek.com
Amazon.com plans to unveil a larger-screen model of its Kindle e-book player, aimed at students, in the coming months
sources say the new version is significantly thinner, has a better screen, is more stylish and includes fixes to some of the user interface annoyances with the first version
“They’ve jumped from Generation One to Generation Four or Five. It just looks better, and feels better,”
Kleiner Perkins VC John Doerr, an original backer of Bezos, told me he thinks the Kindle will be a $1 billion business before too long.

Nice balance to this biz week article. Not sure i’m sold on the Kindle either, but its tough to question John Doerr. He’s been right many, many times…and his wins typically come with many, many zeros behind it.

Princeton University has announced that it will start printing Kindle-edition textbooks this fall, according to a story in The Christian Science Monitor.

Princeton follows Yale, Oxford, and UC Berkeley in creating textbooks for the Kindle. In the United States, there are about 2,500 four-year universities, so Amazon still has a long way to go.

hmmm…2,500 four-year universities in the U.S. The author of this article says Amazon has a long way to go. I say, that’s 2,500 highly qualified “Glengary” leads to go after!

I can hear Bezos now…”We’re adding a little something to this month’s sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anybody want to see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you’re fired. “
